SUMMARY:Alexa\, What's VOICE? - Meetup with Voice Influencer Ken Sakal @Downtown
DESCRIPTION:The total number of Smart Speakers (Amazon Alexa\, Google Home and Apple Siri) owners has reached over 50 million and the numbers continues to rise. Google revealed that more than one Google Home Smart Speaker product was sold every second between October and December in 2017. With that type of adoption expected again this year (for Google\, Amazon\, and potentially Apple)\, 2019 should see large scale mainstream adoption of Smart Speaker and voice technology. \nWhat can your company\, business or brand do to utilize Smart Speakers and voice technology? How can you reach your customers in their home\, without them ever having to log on to a laptop\, or pick up their phone? We will discuss some of the most popular Alexa Skills and Google Actions use cases for businesses\, in Voice Technology today. \nAlso\, what exactly is an Alexa Skill or a Google Action? How does someone go about creating one and how difficult is it to build one. We will look at the third party tools and development options available to create Voice Apps and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each approach. \nFinally\, this will be the first in a series on voice technology\, we will start fairly high level and get into more and more detail each month. If there are individual topics you would like to see covered\, please add them in the comments below. \nKen Sakal is the founder of Vohesu (https://www.vohesu.com/)\, developers of Virtual Health Assistants for patients with chronic diseases. Ken has spoken at the Voice Summit 2018\, the largest voice tech conference that brings the conversational design ecosystem together and has been featured on various podcasts.

SUMMARY:Lunch Talk: What UX Exposes About Your Culture with Leah Hacker @ Downtown
DESCRIPTION:When we think of companies\, we often think of discrete parts that make up the broader experience of your brand. But when you put all of the siloed components together into a whole experience\, your operational blindspots can create dysfunction. With more and more emphasis being placed on a holistic\, integrated UX\, this cacophony within your organization can find its way into your UX. What do you do when these disconnects find their way into your UX? How can you tell? And\, how can you avoid it? \nLeah Hacker:As Sr. Strategist\, leading the Research and Business Strategy teams at Accomplice\, Leah Hacker leads a team that rethinks data science\, leveraging consumer and market insight\, user experience\, and predictive analytics to provide a cross-functional strategy for product\, business\, and growth. Her outcomes have included: more defined business strategies\, streamlined operations\, maximized revenue opportunities\, and enhanced product and service features and value adds. She has been involved in research and strategy initiatives in the medicine\, hospitality\, retail\, entertainment\, education\, and tech industries and played an instrumental role in product and market strategy for Honest Dollar\, an Austin-based start-up acquired by Goldman Sachs in 2015. \nShe is a published author\, conference speaker on research and strategy\, and is the Editor and Producer of It’s Worth Doing Right – a thought leadership platform and podcast exploring topics on the intersection of creativity and data in business strategy.

SUMMARY:Cyber Risk Management for your DoD Contracts" with Regine Bonneau @Winter Park
DESCRIPTION:Cyberspace and its underlying infrastructure are vulnerable to a wide range of risk stemming from both physical and cyber threats and hazards. Sophisticated cyber actors and nation-states exploit vulnerabilities to steal information and money and are developing capabilities to disrupt\, destroy\, or threaten the delivery of essential services. Cyberspace is particularly difficult to secure due to several factors: the ability of malicious actors to operate from anywhere in the world\, the linkages between cyberspace and physical systems\, and the difficulty of reducing vulnerabilities and consequences in complex cyber networks. Of growing concern is the cyber threat to critical infrastructure\, which is increasingly subject to sophisticated cyber intrusions that pose new risks. \nAs information technology becomes increasingly integrated with physical infrastructure operations\, there is increased risk for wide scale or high-consequence events that could cause harm or disrupt services upon which our economy and the daily lives of millions of Americans depend. Considering the risk and potential consequences of cyber events\, strengthening the security and resilience of cyberspace has become an important homeland security mission. Cyber attacks and data breaches poses inherent danger to national security\, especially the potential loss of confidential data due to a third party contractor. The Department of Defense has realized this as a major threat to National Security and its vulnerability as the largest contractor in the world and has issued DFARS NIST 800-171 in 2016 compliance to be met by its contractors. \nJoin RB Advisory in learning how to protect your Department of Defense contracts and how you can mitigate any risk and fines associated going forward. Contact RB Advisory at (407) 796-8079 for more information.

DESCRIPTION:BLOOMING SOLID: An Uncomfortable WorkshopFind your hidden potential and use it to start taking radical action. \nThis workshop is focused on teaching creative entrepreneurs how to get out of their comfort zones\, step into their potential and start taking radical action. \nMaya Siobhan is a 25 year old writer\, songstress\, performer and Orlando Native who has been passionately creative since childhood. Growing up with a chronic pain condition\, her relationship with adversity grew as she realized her limits. In 2013 she took a medical leave from Howard University during her sophomore year due to her pain reaching an unbearable high and ventured into a healing journey that has transformed her into the dynamic woman she is today and is continuously becoming. She’s currently writing a memoir entitled Exposed: The Poetic Memoir of an Invisible Woman” where she recounts and shares stories from her healing journey and how she persevered through it. \nMaya initially started Blooming Solid as a hand-made sugar scrub business in 2013 during her major life shift. The business didn’t sustain but it marked the beginning of her creative entrepreneurial journey which she has developed over the years. Today\, Blooming Solid is resurrecting as an educational and entertainment based business catered to helping people who wish to embrace their life work and create careers based off of their passions and creative pursuits. She puts a big focus on mental wellness and our beliefs systems where limitations ultimately stem.

SUMMARY:SLICING PIE Author Mike Moyer in partnership w/ Orlando Entrepreneurs & Harvest
DESCRIPTION:This event is presented by Harvest: Simple Online Time Tracking Software (www.getHarvest.com)! \nStarterStudio is partnering with Orlando Entrepreneurs to host Mike Moyer\, author of Slicing Pie! Join us for a night of conversation around dynamic and fair equity models! \nCreating an unfair equity split with partners is not only one of the most devastating mistakes founders can make\, but also one of the most common. This seminar will teach attendees a simple method for implementing a dynamic split and virtually eliminating equity disputes. Every company founder that plans to share equity needs to learn how to ensure fairness. \nKey Lessons: \nWhy conventional fixed-split equity models set founders up for failureHow to implement a dynamic equity model that is perfectly fair to all participantsWhat to do when partners or employees quit or get fired \nAbout Mike Moyer \nMike Moyer is a career entrepreneur who has started companies\, worked for startups\, and held senior management positions at established businesses. He is now the managing director of Fair and Square Ventures\, LLC\, a company that provides education\, software\, growth consulting and early-stage investments for startup companies and the founder of MosquitOasis\, which produces camping equipment. He is an adjunct faculty member at Northwestern University and the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. He is the author of several business-related books including The Slicing Pie Handbook\, Slicing Pie\, Pitch Ninja\, and Trade Show Samurai.
